HFV--A Sweet Community That Gets Better With Age
reviewed on: 11/12/2017 by AnonymousMy mom has lived here for fourteen years and it has been a blessing. As she has aged, her social life has become more important, and the community here is super supportive. The staff are some of the sweetest people I have ever met and truly seem to love the residents. I think they have a calling to work with the elderly--they speak in glowing terms about them, and feel true empathy. One day, I saw a staff member standing in the hall near the billiard room asking residents if they would like to play a game. She told me the man was shy and hadn't yet participated in any activities, and she was helping him. The residents are also very kind, unfailingly greeting each person they pass in the halls, which are like mini-highways with people of all speeds. Some of the residents volunteer at the front desk, in the library, etc. One of them runs a food co-op and shops for the other residents. The facility is arranged to maximize exercise and opportunities for meeting other people. Every time I go visit I find a new room with some interesting amenity, like a computer lab that offers classes in email or online banking. Losing a loved one or moving from a home into a retirement community naturally brings grief, but no one should be lonely, sad or uncomfortable here for long!
Friend moved in
reviewed on: 07/09/2018 by JanetMy friend moved in after I invited her to a luncheon. She has lived in her home for 60yrs. She can't stop talking about how wonderful it is to live here She likes talking to people. She really likes the food. She has had half the church over for dinner or lunch. She comes down to help make blankets for abused children. I am so happy for her.
Highly Recommended!!
reviewed on: 12/09/2016 by AnonymousMy aunt is adjusting very well thanks to one man there, he was a counselor and his name is Matthew. He gave her a whole new outlook on life, he is truly amazing. Unfortunately, I was informed that they're letting him go for financial reasons, a lot of the people admire him, it's a very sad situation. The community itself is kept very clean. The only downfall is it's very expensive to live there, but they thought of everything. The meals are very good. They have 3 restaurants in there and they all prepare the food so well. A lot of people who don't even live in the community go there to eat. They have happy hour and an indoor pool, it's beautiful. They also have about 20 activities a day.
Stress Free
reviewed on: 10/08/2019 by AnonymousCan’t really answer the questions cause we haven’t stayed here long enough even though we moved in mid July. We travel a lot and are only here at the village 4 1/2 months a year. I had surgery a couple of weeks ago and have not been able to do much of anything yet. I know they have lots of things to do here but can’t seem to stay long enough to enjoy it. Not sorry we moved here. Love the freedom and we are not stressed out like we were in our house.
Great place to live.
