Moving our mom into assisted living was made easier because of Morningside/Park Vista
reviewed on: 10/17/2020 by Laurie MillerNo place is perfect for an elderly parent because it is not the home they have known and they are likely to be at a point in their lives that they never not wanted to reach -- having to move into assisted living, but Park Vista at Morningside comes close to perfect. My mother first moved into Morningside as a move to retirement living, but when her slow cognitive decline began to manifest, as a family we were glad the professionals at Morningside noted this and worked with her doctors and us to move my mom into the assisted living section or Morningside, Park Vista. She is able to still have her own 'apartment' filled with household items familiar to her for decades, we can still visit her [pre-COVID ... 45 minute outside visits are currently offered as of October 2020] -- and stay in her unit if we want -- and we know she has 24 hour care if she needs it. Her cognitive decline has changed her personality and she can be a challenge to interact with at times, but the staff at Park Vista understands what has happened to her. This is a comfort to know -- that people helping her have patience and resilience -- because we know that she is not always pleasant to deal with but that patience can help calm her and bring out more of the person we knew before her decline. In addition, her room is kept clean and the staff keeps her on a regular eating and movement routine, all while not (as she would say) 'bothering' her too much -- just enough to keep her moving and maintaining healthy routines. What more can you ask for? Most families do not want to put their family members in assisted living as change to this new phase of life is a challenge for all involved. For our family, Morningside/Park Vista made these changes easier than we would have otherwise experienced, and, for that, I am grateful.
Staff Doctor is Incompetent
reviewed on: 12/21/2016 by Patty GomezThe facility Doctor, Dr Dang, is terrible! Mom had two different infections that he failed to prescribe antibiotics for in a reasonable time frame. The first affected her ability to eat and the second was a raging UTI.
