Unique Features
This beautiful 8 acre property is famous for its lovely landscaping, nature walkways, shuffleboard courts, potting sheds and gazebos.
A comprehensive study of retirement facilities was conducted throughout several states. Based on personal visits to assisted living facilities, information was compiled and an extensive survey was prepared and mailed to more than five thousand Manatee County senior citizens to determine their needs and desires. The overwhelming response revealed a strong desire for elegant as well as comfortable surroundings in a residential setting. With these goals in mind, Summerfield became a reality.
In 1997 the "Reader's Preference Award" voted Summerfield the best retirement community. -

Nice place and services sporadic(but they are fixing it)
reviewed on: 05/20/2015 by AnonymousFood is great. Place is clean. Only issue is one wing has aids on the weekend that are not responsive and doing their job. New management knows this and does seem to be making the right changes to fix it. I would recommend them. Both my parents are they and I feel good about that.
Very nice place
reviewed on: 07/09/2015 by AnonymousThings have gone very well at Summerfield Retirement so far. The staff is friendly and professional, and they've been very accommodating throughout the whole process of helping my Mom settle in. The facility itself is nice looking, and always spotless! I think they do a great job here, overall.
Overall, Very Happy
reviewed on: 12/02/2013 by DaughterVery happy with them. We have had a little problems with the care. They are very nice but they are not always available. My mom did her own laundry because she didn't think that they were coming, and it would help if she was reminded of the schedule.
Needs Improvement!!
reviewed on: 08/23/2016 by AnonymousMy love one has not been receiving the one on one care i was hoping for her to receive. There has been some lack of communication from the staff towards the family. We had to hire an additional caregiver to help my love one out in the community. She has to stay on top of the staff and the housekeeping, so that they maintain everything in place. The staff wasn't putting an effort to help my loved one interact with activities. I am disappointed in the community at the moment i hope for some improvement.
I feel like they get it!
reviewed on: 12/18/2013 by Doug WilliamsHaving come from a business environment where the competition is always nipping at your heals and chasing your clients, I whole-heartedly understand that balancing costs with profits and service is necessary for any business' survival today. And I know that, although I'd love for my mother to have "personal, 24 hr attention"; in today's world that is not possible unless $$ is of no concern...but it is (generally for most of us). My point being that a 1 to 1 client to caregiver ratio is financially impossible without big buck prices. Having said that I must say that the folks at Summerfield have never, ever, ever made me feel like $$ was the object of their existence. I am so grateful for the staff's positive outlook and generally optimistic attitude when it comes to dealing with elder care. I know that it cannot be easy to deal with the aging on a daily basis. They have my enduring respect, sincere gratitude and unquestionable support! Thank you Summerfield.
