Community Reviews
Overall a good community for loved ones
reviewed on: 05/27/2021 by anonymousThey are putting in good efforts to bring back the activities, but they are still pretty limited. We do think the value for cost is appropriate and we would recommend The Brennity community to others.
He loved it!
reviewed on: 06/22/2021 by anonymousWe specifically chose this community because it felt more like a resort hotel, it did not feel institutional or hospital like. You can rent small homes, apartments, they have assisted living and memory care. The residents can roam indoors and never run out of places to go. Nothing is locked down so you are free to go wherever whenever, the residents have a sense of independence. They have basketball, bocce, lakes and a swimming pool. So if grand-kids come to visit they can swim in the pool, or do the other activities the community offers. Our only issues we had is with the nursing staff, their communication was horrible. They did not seem to know what was going on, and we figured out because the traveling doctor told us they recently lost the head nurse so it was taking awhile for the new staff members to get trained, and everyone was always so apologetic. However, putting the communication aside, the care they showed our loved one was wonderful, this was truly the best place he could of been at. He was only there for two months before passing but our family had such a positive experience.
I would recommend
reviewed on: 08/16/2021 by anonymousWe chose The Brennity because it had a large independent living section. The apartment sizes here are very nice size. The residents are very friendly and welcoming. It does seem that they have been short staffed recently. I would recommend to others looking.
Grateful for Assistance
reviewed on: 07/01/2015 by JanBoth my parents have lived at The Brennity in Assisted Living (AL) for almost a year, which is not their first AL facility to reside in. What I have learned in all my experiences with facilities (even in 2 different states) is that virtually all of them have handicaps to deal with, mostly thanks to state and federal law requirements out of their control. But I have to say that The Brennity tries to make things as good as they can be for their residents. If it’s who I think it is, I am acquainted with the “unruly resident in the dining room” who was noted by another responder, and know that his unruliness is the result of a stroke (strokes have handicapped many a person in such facilities and affected them in similar or other ways). This “unruly” resident is harmless and the noises he makes are outside of his control and only on occasion--much of of the time he is quiet with distractions like reading or eating. I think it is a bit unreasonable to judge an AL facility by these kinds of harmless behaviors, as many residents in AL facilities have their own issues too. They have seen their better days, and I would say most family members understand this and don’t expect the residents to always act as they did in their younger years. Compassion, and some amount of tolerance and acceptance are necessary in AL facilities. After all, we never know when we ourselves may be in their shoes and may require some extra patience. I’ve learned there’s a thin line between taking good care of those who require more patience, and keeping happy or satisfied others whose patience is lacking. In all, I give kudos to The Brennity and its staff for trying to do what is impossible to be done perfectly—who understand the diversity of the aged and do all within their ability to make life tolerable and comfortable for their residents, each of whom are in different places both mentally and physically.
Thank you Brennity Memory Care
