    Monmouth is the county seat of Warren County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,444 at the 2010 census, down from 9,841 in 2000. It is the home of Monmouth College and contains Monmouth Park, Harmon Park, North Park, Warfield Park, West Park, South Park, Garwood Park, Buster White Park and the Citizens Lake & Campground. It is the host of the Prime Beef festival, held annually the week after Labor Day. The festival is kicked off with one of the largest parades in Western Illinois. Monmouth is also known regionally as the "Maple City". It is part of the Galesburg Micropolitan Statistical Area. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and local officials stated in May of 2014 that it would be the future site of a 250,000 square foot Cloverleaf Cold Storage facility scheduled to open in March of 2015, with a $30 million investment from Cloverleaf. Hundreds of construction jobs will be necessary not only for the building, but for a new access road leading to the facility at the north edge of town. Cloverleaf also hopes to expand the operation to 400,000 square feet within three to five years, generating another 50 plant jobs; most of the construction and permanent company positions are expected to be positions that could support a family on a middle-class area lifestyle.
