Public Records and License Status
Massachusetts has limited access into assisted living records, offering a residency list available in PDF only format and information that is over one year old. To gain greater insight into records, visit the Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs. For an inspection report, fax the Executive Office of Elder Affairs at 617-727-9368. You may also file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
Violations and Resident Protection
While the state of Massachusetts does make a list of licensed assisted living communities available online, the information is not current and not searchable by community. Additionally, they do not post information regarding violations, complaints, survey results or inspections online. They do have information regarding the capacity for each community but do not show information about special licensing for care, payment information, pricing of facilities or contact information for communities.
Massachusetts performs inspections every 24 months and can fine facilities for violations and non-compliance.
