Community Reviews
Not For Us
reviewed on: 11/18/2013 by DaughterThey had grand everything, but my mom felt that the residents were quite uppity and snotty. Everything was organized and expensive. They have a round barn that they have turned into an activity center, and that is really their shtick. They are nice, but not for us.
A+ Facility
reviewed on: 12/08/2017 by MNGopherWe have been residents at The Farmstead for a year and a half. Though we are in independent-living, we know assisted-living and memory-care residents. Our personal experience and that of the people we know is that by all measures, The Farmstead is a top-quality senior-living environment. Staff friendliness and helpfulness is top notch. The facility is always clean and well-maintained. In emergencies that we know about or have seen, someone has come right away and rendered appropriate assistance. There is a wide-variety of activities, and resident input is routinely invited into the planning of additional activities. In fact, residents are welcome to participate as much as they like in giving input to the staff. We are grateful to be in a facility that provides residents with such a clean, safe, and accommodating environment.
Not recommended
reviewed on: 10/04/2016 by concernedseniorThe previous review is inaccurate. The Round Barn was never used for resident activities. It has always been either a commercial enterprise or a vacant building. I have a family member who has been at Farmstead for quite a few years. It has gotten worse with time, with constant staffing changes. There is no one available after hours, so residents are often trying to help each other when someone falls. Now the 2 parking lots and entrances have been torn up for expansion of the lots, mostly to accommodate the commercial business. Parking is now on the streets, a block or more from the entrance. The frailer residents are not able to navigate the exit which is muddy and very uneven. Cars are not allowed to go there. The residents are isolated. There was no forewarning of this. The cost of this residence is exorbitant. Some residents stay there simply because their relatives live nearby. Recent renovations have eliminated all traces of elegance, striving instead to look like a farm. Security is lax. The annual resident survey did not happen.
