Nice Run Community

reviewed on: 10/08/2020 by Anonymous

There are certain things I liked about it. My loved one complains about the food, they say that it is the same thing over and over again. The taste isn't there as well. I'm not sure how often the house cleaners are changing the sheets for my loved one. Celeste is very nice and she is the one who runs the community. Due to COVID we are paying the same amount that we were prior to the pandemic. All my loved one is getting is three meals, sitting in their room, or in the outside garden. It is a good thing they are being cautious on the pandemic in my opinion. Everything is an extra cost. I've been told that the medication is given at 7 pm and then the residents aren't allowed to come out of their rooms. The community is in a very pretty area.

Good care for my uncle

reviewed on: 12/22/2016 by Anonymous

My Uncle is doing well here at this community. The staff are very helpful and have been able to help him progress in areas The community is clean and well maintained. He likes most of the meals, but said that the food can use alittle improvements. They do have a variety of activities that are offerd to him when he is able to participate. We are happy that he is near by so that we can visit often. We recommend the care and value to other families.

Very nice community!

The Homestead has a lot going for it, although the care they provide is more appropriate for those on the lower end of the care spectrum. My loved one has been very well cared for here! The facility has everything you could as for! There is an on site doctor, a psychiatrist, the aides are always present and available, and she even has a (fantastic!) case manager here. They are also able to provide any needed medication. which can be billed separately for insurance reasons if necessary. One aspect of their service that I really appreciate was they put a lot of thought into the pairings for their shared rooms. They are very cognizant of the personalities of their residents, and try very hard to match up people who will work well as roommates.

Tour

I did not think the layout of this community would work for my loved one. The person that took us on tour was nice and knowledgable. The community seemed clean. I would recommend taking a look to see if this community would work for your loved one

New Homestead —Safe & Caring

reviewed on: 10/29/2020 by Joanna

I can imagine how hard the process is to find a place for mom or another family member in the times we are in. I highly recommend the New Homestead as a very safe and caring placement in these difficult times. My mother lived at the New Homestead for the last five years of her life. I will be forever grateful for the care she received there. Mom was very well cared for and loved the place. As her needs changed over time the New Homestead was always creative and flexible in providing her with the appropriate continuum of care. New Homestead did an amazing job when Covid hit. They responded fast and with an ongoing diligence in protecting their residents. Mom was kept safe from Covid there in the heart of Queens - Kew Gardens. The New Homestead is a unique place in a great neighborhood where everything is within walking distance. Everything Mom needed was available at the New Homestead but we enjoyed walking around town or going to the parks near by when I visited. The building, a converted historical hotel is small compared to other adult facilities. It’s not overwhelming in size. It has a nice old fashioned homey feel and a really nice garden where she liked to watch the world go by. She had a beautiful private room and enjoyed the bright sunny dining room. She liked the food. The relationships and communication we developed with the staff was excellent. She lived so many good memories there. She had wonderful friends, great caretakers and great times. The activity director is excellent. When they could visit many community members were invited there; entertainers, musicians, school children, art therapists and various religious practitioners. Residents took fabulous day trips to cultural venues. Times do not permit these activities now but excellent care continues.
