Good care for my uncle
reviewed on: 12/22/2016 by AnonymousMy Uncle is doing well here at this community. The staff are very helpful and have been able to help him progress in areas The community is clean and well maintained. He likes most of the meals, but said that the food can use alittle improvements. They do have a variety of activities that are offerd to him when he is able to participate. We are happy that he is near by so that we can visit often. We recommend the care and value to other families.

Entirely satisfied
reviewed on: 05/27/2015 by AnonymousThings have gone very well at The Homestead. We've only been here a few weeks at this point, but so far I would give them high marks across the board. We are entirely satisfied, and would recommend it to others looking into senior living in the area.
New Homestead —Safe & Caring
reviewed on: 10/29/2020 by JoannaI can imagine how hard the process is to find a place for mom or another family member in the times we are in. I highly recommend the New Homestead as a very safe and caring placement in these difficult times. My mother lived at the New Homestead for the last five years of her life. I will be forever grateful for the care she received there. Mom was very well cared for and loved the place. As her needs changed over time the New Homestead was always creative and flexible in providing her with the appropriate continuum of care. New Homestead did an amazing job when Covid hit. They responded fast and with an ongoing diligence in protecting their residents. Mom was kept safe from Covid there in the heart of Queens - Kew Gardens. The New Homestead is a unique place in a great neighborhood where everything is within walking distance. Everything Mom needed was available at the New Homestead but we enjoyed walking around town or going to the parks near by when I visited. The building, a converted historical hotel is small compared to other adult facilities. It’s not overwhelming in size. It has a nice old fashioned homey feel and a really nice garden where she liked to watch the world go by. She had a beautiful private room and enjoyed the bright sunny dining room. She liked the food. The relationships and communication we developed with the staff was excellent. She lived so many good memories there. She had wonderful friends, great caretakers and great times. The activity director is excellent. When they could visit many community members were invited there; entertainers, musicians, school children, art therapists and various religious practitioners. Residents took fabulous day trips to cultural venues. Times do not permit these activities now but excellent care continues.
The New Homestead
reviewed on: 02/27/2016 by Michelle PoundsThis is a place for anyone to be when they retire. First I was so nervous cause I did not know how my mom was going to react at this place and boy oh boy when i got the phone call on the first day she got there and I was told my mom came in smiling, she participated in their party they told me she was clapping her hands when I came in later that evening she told me she was full from their meals. I felt so happy. This is the place for my mom.
