Community Reviews

Large Rooms

reviewed on: 03/31/2014 by Loved One

We toured this community to look at other options, and were impressed by some aspects. For one, they had a sheet that showed how the "care points" translate to the cost of care. Also, they didn't seem to have as much concern about private pay vs. medicaid. This facility is significantly bigger than some of the others, which means long hallways, which would be a little difficult for my loved ones. Also, their rooms are much bigger and offer storage. This would be at the top of our list if my loved ones ever needs to move.

Long time resident

reviewed on: 04/04/2020 by Genelle's daughter

My mother has lived at Cedar Village for almost 10 years, first in Assisted Living, and now in Memory Care, as her dementia has progressed. The social integration and cognitive stimulation at this facility has been amazing. The activities have always been fun and engaging. Even now, in the end-stages, she engages in some of these activities. The compassionate, personal connection that the direct caregivers have with her has been amazing. The attitude of acceptance of the residents' behavior and their support of them provides a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The place is always clean, but I have to say that while there is no smell of urine in Memory Care, the air is always heavy with a cloying, clinging, fruity-coconutty smell, that pervades one's hair and clothing within a few minutes. The food had been good and has been average, as we've seen a few management companies come and go. In Memory care, the meals are all appropriate for this population. Due to Mom's difficulties with maintaining weight, the staff has gone over and above with monitoring her food, providing nutritious shakes, and encouraging hydration. This has been an excellent part of her care, and we are very appreciative of this support.

We Are Happy With Them

They always answered our questions. I was always able to call and reach someone and get an answer, so that was good. It's hard to say what they could improve on, maybe just a little more variety in the food choices. In general, we are happy with it.

Wonderful place and staff!!

We moved our folks into Cedar Village on March 1, 2018. The transition was a bit difficult for mom because it was necessary for them to give up their home and car. And, after 6 months of them being cared for/assisted by the Cedar Village staff, I can honestly say that it has been a true blessing for them! My parents have been well treated and cared for. Not only have all their needs been met, but they have been exceeded. The facility is ALWAYS clean and inviting! The staff is caring, understanding and helpful. My mom had a last minute urgent doc appointment and I was sick and couldn't go with her and the staff stepped up to get her to her appt, set me up with a conference call in the docs office and were beyond helpful. They truly set my mind at ease! A huge Thank You to Gina, Debbie and everyone else who came to our rescue! It's comforting to know we can count on you for back up when I can't be there. Thank you so very much for helping to make this time of their life so much easier/better for them!

Mixed Experience

reviewed on: 01/02/2014 by Daughter

For me, it seemed very friendly. My mom had a couple of problems with a couple of the staff, but we had a very unique situation. She had very severe problems and she was in a lot of pain. She would need help getting in and out of bed and to the bathroom. They gave us the impression that they could provide the full continuum until the end unless there was something like a stroke where they couldn't swallow, but we just didn't feel like there were quite enough people. My parents didn't participate in the activities because my mom was so sick, but they were available. The food seemed OK, but my parents weren't too excited about it. They didn't like spicy food at all and they thought that even the normal food there was too spicy, so my dad was eating hamburgers four or five days a week. I always thought the food smelled good, though!
