I would highly recommend going somewh...
reviewed on: 02/28/2014 by AnonymousI would highly recommend going somewhere else. I work in the industry but have had a personal experience with this facility that was very negative. There are lots of wonderful places that will care for your loved ones and make sure they are safe - this is just not one of them. If you have ever watched the documentary "Living and Dying in Assisted Living" this facility has similar stories that will make you very uneasy about choosing them for yourself or your loved one.
If no attention needed you should be fine.....
reviewed on: 08/27/2018 byMy dad was transferred here for rehab after suffering a stroke. He was there for a week before he was bathed and only after we said something about it! We also noticed that he sat for hours in soiled diapers. They are very slow to respond to the call button...30-40 minutes the two times I tried. I wound up going out of the room and trying to find someone to help him. Never once did I see an aide or a nurse come into my father's room unless asked. The communication is horrible. The last straw was getting a call from their doctor stating that in the week that he has been there, they never tested his sugar or gave him his insulin. If you are planning on doing your rehab here or having your loved one put here, please reconsider. My father is being transferred today (only because this was the soonest I could get him moved to another facility). The only positive thing I can say is that Rachel/Director of Social Services was very kind during this whole process. She always returned my calls, and she always tried to help. Unfortunately one person can only do so much!
[Name removed] should not be a doctor to elderly individuals.
reviewed on: 03/09/2019 by For Zuberka familyDr. Paula Jacobus should not be a doctor to elderly individuals. My husband was admitted to Luther Crest Rehab center after suffering a brain bleed. As with any facility, there are pro’s and con’s, good people and bad people, last but not least good and bad doctors. Most notable about this facility is that most of the staff was terrific in many ways with a few individuals that could have been more responsible in their duties. That being said, we attempted multiple times over several days to have the doctor check my husband as he was not eating as much as he had previously, as well as, his voice indicated he had a sore throat and some congestion. In addition, he was cold and having tremors. Finally, we noticed that he was not swallowing the little bit of food he was eating, and it was getting lodged in his mouth. We could clearly see he was declining and confused as to why they didn’t call in the doctor. We were surprised to learn that the Doctor only checks patients once a week. Regardless if the patient needs it or not. Or at least this was what we were told. Once Dr. Jacobus finally came in to see my husband and talk with us (without even looking at my husband) her response was extremely cold and heartless. She said, “Do you want to take him to the hospital and have a feeding tube inserted into his stomach and he will die anyway? Your husband is shutting down for the last couple of days!” This was the first time any of us were informed of his deteriorating condition. This was absolutely the first time we even met the doctor, no prior communications from her. Nothing, even though I was there every single day almost all day long. My husband entered the Facility on 2/21/2019 and was doing well and performing well with therapy. While waiting for more than two hours for Dr. Jacobus to come in and check my husband, I finally called an ambulance and they transported my husband to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Allentown Sunday 3/3/19. Horribly, before transport, the ambulance drivers needed information from Luther Crest healthcare staff regarding the condition of my husband and no one could answer their questions; Not the Nurses, the nurse’s aides, not anyone! Where did the doctor go? Why hadn’t she left information for the ambulance if she wasn’t there at the time of their arrival? The ambulance then documented, “No information given from Luther Crest”. On Wednesday, March 6, 2019 our patriarch; husband, father, brother, uncle and (great)grandfather passed away. We are all left with the feeling of WHAT IF they had tried to get the doctor in sooner, would he still be here with us? In, just over a week, he went from doing as good as can be expected doing almost 3 hours of therapy a day to pneumonia and kidney failure. Please remember: When putting your elderly family member into any facility, it is very important to stay abreast of their wellbeing. Ask questions and make sure they understand you are not going to sit back and let things happen. Demand to speak with the doctor and get answers. Lastly, call for an ambulance if you are not sure. With deep heart felt sorrow, “The family of Mr. Edward Zuberka” 10/31/39-03/06/2019

Find a better place!
