Nice place!
reviewed on: 02/06/2017 by AnonymousThe Birches was nice, but they only had one room available. It was a shared room as well, and my father wanted a private room. The place in the area that we wanted, had it not been for the room situation we would have probably chosen this place.
Thankful Family
reviewed on: 10/14/2019 by AnonymousThank you so much for the care that you give our Aunt & Uncle. From the very first day that they've been at The Birches, we know that they have been in excellent hands. Uprooting them from Acton, Mass. was a necessary step towards insuring they they might have a better quality of life... as they were no longer able to care for themselves. Although their transition to assisted living has been a challenge, the care and love and patience of your wonderful staff has made all of the difference in bringing them back to full health, and helping them in "settling-in" to their new home here in Newtown. We will be forever grateful to all of you for all that you do for them.
Exceptional Care
reviewed on: 11/09/2021 by Gerri MFinding a place that my husband could call home wasn't easy but we were lucky enough to find that place at The Birches. The care and compassion shown to my husband allowed him to spend his final years happy, content, and safe.
A place you can trust your loved ones with.
reviewed on: 05/22/2019 by Gary NelsonMy Mother was living at Birches for a couple years, The care was top notch! They hire very nice people and nobody is left behind. Lots of activities to keep them going. Meals are very good. The place is kept very clean. It's a place where you would like to retire and meet lots of new friends and get the utmost care for a fair cost. Kim the Director is very nice and she is always in touch. Jason the head nurse is "In touch with all that comes his way". He kept me informed about any issues my mother had. The staff who helped my mother in her daily routine ( ie. getting in and out of bed and bathing and keeping her busy through out her day) were the best! She was Known as Aunt Doris to the staff and she was treated like family. Also this place has its own onsite physical therapy (FOX).
Just do your homework!!!!
reviewed on: 01/25/2017 by AnonymousI recently toured this facility and I found there to be a strong odor as you entered the memory care unit. I mentioned this to Carrie who was taking me on this tour. Some of the patients seemed "out of it". I did leave a deposit for my parent for sometime later on in this year. There are questions yet to be answered, as in percentage of yearly increases, emergency evacuation routes, educational levels of aides, medications administration by house physicians, and visiting hours. Do the memory care units have the same aide every day? I would like to see the odor gone before I place my parent in this facility. Before anyone commits their parent to this facility, drive around the facility and then compare to other facilities' area for their residents.
