Very Encouraging To My Father
reviewed on: 05/03/2016 by AnonymousMy father is doing very good at this community and he has adjusted well to it. The community looks great and it is always clean and well-kept. The staff is really good, they are doing a good job caring for my dad. There are many activities for the residents to choose from. They do a good with encouraging my dad to get involved. The food is good, they do sever a well balanced meal. He is getting the type of attention he needs. So I would recommend this community.
Review of The Birches At Newtown
reviewed on: 07/31/2020 by Lori & Cindy M.Our family would like to thank you for the love and care you provided to our father for the past several years. He was so happy at The Birches and loved all of the staff so much. He was a "tough old bird", but the twinkle in his eyes an his outgoing personality made him so special to everyone who knew him! We are all so grateful you got to know him, and are equally grateful for the care provided him. He spent the last days of his life exactly where he wanted to be, with people who cared for him.
Excellent care coordination
reviewed on: 11/11/2021 by Kristin FThe Birches provides compassionate care for all their residents. They provide a full-time physical therapist and exercise physiologist that provide tailored exercise classes and 1 to 1 wellness sessions in order to keep their residents functioning at their maximum potential. They have excellent communication between the management staff and family members to ensure all parties are informed and understanding of the care plan for their loved one.
Just do your homework!!!!
reviewed on: 01/25/2017 by AnonymousI recently toured this facility and I found there to be a strong odor as you entered the memory care unit. I mentioned this to Carrie who was taking me on this tour. Some of the patients seemed "out of it". I did leave a deposit for my parent for sometime later on in this year. There are questions yet to be answered, as in percentage of yearly increases, emergency evacuation routes, educational levels of aides, medications administration by house physicians, and visiting hours. Do the memory care units have the same aide every day? I would like to see the odor gone before I place my parent in this facility. Before anyone commits their parent to this facility, drive around the facility and then compare to other facilities' area for their residents.
The Birches is Wonderful!
reviewed on: 11/12/2018 by Laurel CollinsThe Birches as Newtown is wonderful, I can't recommend it highly enough. The nurses and aides really got to know and care about him as a person. The aides came around pretty frequently to check on him. Food was great too. He wasn't much of a joiner so he didn't partake in many activities, but from what I saw, there was a nice variety and the other residents seemed to enjoy themselves. He loved having his own studio, which was way more space than he needed! Holy cow it was huge! The dining area was very gracious and calm, which he really enjoyed. My dad lived there for about 4 months before he passed away in the hospital, but it was home to him. He was very very happy there. The quality of his life was very good at Birches- much better than living in his old home by himself, and way better than rehab in a nursing home (where he came from prior to moving in).
