Community Reviews
taken very good care of
reviewed on: 08/24/2015 by AnonymousI have very few complaints about Atria South Hills. There were some minor problems at the beginning but they got resolved. She was taken very good care of there. The staff always checked on her and made sure she was doing well. It's a little pricey but anything like this is.
A great community for your mom
reviewed on: 05/18/2021 by ChristinaIt's hard to judge now during Covid what it was like before, but it's starting to get better now. My loved one hadn't really met anybody up until this point, but they're opening up the dining room, and socialization is getting better. She loves their breakfast. She gets to play bingo, which she loves. And they're starting to do more activities now. There's a beautiful outdoor space to go and sit. So far it's been a positive experience, although everyone everywhere has been going through a hard time with the pandemic. Atria has had a lot of changeover with the staff and were short-staffed for a while after some of the college girls left. My loved one's room is cleaned often, the trash is taken out, her bed clothes are cleaned and always neat and fresh, and the laundry is taken care of. They take very good care of my loved one. They give her her pills every day and check on her. She's had a couple of trips to the hospital with high blood pressure and dizziness. They called me each time to see fi I wanted to bring her in myself to be checked out or if they should they call the ambulance. They're very conscientious and don't let the residents just sit there. They check on them every day and make sure they're okay. With the virtual tour, they do their best to show you around, but the video tour just couldn't do it justice. It's a beautiful facility, and there's' some great things we saw after moving in that we didn't see on the virtual tour. They have an aquarium, beautiful antique furniture, and a bird up in the lobby. Some of the ladies have dogs that my loved one enjoys seeing. It's really a great place.
A positive atmosphere
reviewed on: 07/07/2017 by robert trakoflerI toured 6 places and searched many more. My focus was first on facilities as far as going the next step to actually tour the places and I quickly learned that you can not go by the web review process due to bias coming from disgruntled employees and the ever present i can say anything attitude that comes from internet anonymity! often times I would see a place and not believe the reviews I had read. I have seen better places in terms of facilities and room size availability (if you are looking for a separate bedroom be forewarned these rooms require walking up steps to get to them.) But the large efficiency apartments are adequate. My real barometer was how happy the residents looked on that note the place is superb and ultimately was what made me select this place. The staff cares and it shows from the waitresses in the dining room, the cleaning staff to the desk people (one of whom had her father living at the place in the past.) The atmosphere of the management is one of a caring, family oriented people based model business and the attitude trickles down throughout the staff. I can not emphasize enough how important this is to me knowing that the person I care for is in a place that nurtures her existence. She has been living at the place only for a week but already her attitude and spirit is improving. My only complaint is I wish they had the facilities to keep her when she may advance to a more hands on nursing care level.
Extremely Nice and Helpful
reviewed on: 12/30/2015 by AnonymousThe staff members at the Atria were extremely nice and very helpful towards the family. My loved one was only there for a little while, but they really worked well with me to help deal with the experience.
