Best Facility in CC based on care/price
reviewed on: 10/19/2020 by Fanci Gonzalez CrossMy Mother and Family agreed on our choice where she would end up living out the rest of her years after visiting several facilities in Corpus Christi. We selected Villa South out of all the others, because of affordability and the actual facility visit. Knowing that my Mother would love living there now that she was at the point of not being able to take care of her home and needed assistance daily in making sure she cared for herself, we felt confident this was the place and so did she. She loved living there. Unfortunately during covid and through all that, she had a mild heart attack. She went on hospice status as was her choice not to have to go to the hospital anymore. A few months later she ended up having some mild strokes and a major stroke which took her abilities. She died a few days after in her home there at Villa South and the staff took such good care of her all along the way. We were able to get covid tested and get in there to spend her last few days with her till she passed after Governor Abbott passed the law to allow some visitation in their room. The staff followed state regulation and protocol concerning covid with us and we followed the rules as well. Towards the end we were allowed to stay with her as much as we could and were allowed to. I can't say enough about the facility, the doctors, nurses, caretaking staff, residents and food service and the hospice group that was selected that made her last home as joyous as it could be considering her eventual declining health, mobility issues. We were blessed she remained covid free in that facility and followed the rules they suggested concerning covid. It was tough not being able to physically visit her anymore during these times, but the staff worked with us for window visits and facetime visits when my Mother was up to doing a visit. We were able to drop food off to her as she requested and could call the staff at any time and they were so supportive and worked with us to be able to communicate with her as much as possible. I have and will recommend this facility to others looking for a place to help with care for their loved ones as well. Thank you to the Corporate staff and the facilities staff for working with my family during the time of my Mother's later years and eventual passing. She will be greatly missed and I know some of the staff will miss her firecracker self as well. Thank you.
Wonderful Care for Loved One
reviewed on: 12/09/2019 by Cindy FreasierMy mother-in-law was a resident at Villa South in their Stepping Stone Memory Care Unit until her recent passing. From the day we moved her in, we knew she was going to be in a place where she would be well taken care of. The facility was clean and the staff was exceptional, from the Executive Director down to the wonderful staff who made sure her daily needs were met and who showed her love and compassion. We would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place to provide care for their loved ones.
Welcoming, but insufficient care for long term dying patient.
reviewed on: 08/25/2021 by anonymousThey have a very welcoming staff, but their weekends are understaffed and they can't provide enough attention to the patients. Also, they don't know how to efficiently handle a patient that is gradually dying, like my loved one was. He fell four times when he was there. I didn't hire anybody on the weekend to watch him, so I consider that 50% their fault and 50% my fault. They hired a hospice company (Kendra's Hospice), and it was the first time they had dealt with that company. I ended up having to fire the hospice nurse and wrote the hospice company a letter. Someone from their company did call me to tell me they were going to give training to all of their staff regarding how they spoke to the dying patient and their families. The Villa South staff were very nice and allowed me to come and visit whenever I wanted or needed to. I just didn't consider them to be watching my loved one enough on the weekends. But it was blurry what they should be responsible for vs. hospice. I think a lot of our problems revolved around hospice's services, which I did not appreciate at all.
Nice tour
reviewed on: 09/18/2017 by AnonymousThis is a very nice community and I did have a very nice tour heere, the staff took their time showing me around and they answered all my questions. I felt that this community was a bit larger than what would be the best for my mom but would recommend a tour.
Villa of Corpus Christi South is all that!!!
reviewed on: 03/04/2016 by AnonymousMy husband has moved to Villa of Corpus Christi SOuth and things are going great! He is adjusting, pretty much settled there, and they are taking real good care of him up there. I am real comfortable with them. They are seeing to all of his needs. I don't have to do anything anymore, they tell me they got him taken care of. I am really pleased! The food is fine, he is diabetic so they make sure he sticks to his diet, he's not always happy about it, it's not what he wants, but they make sure he eats right and takes his medicines. I would tell others to definitely check out this community and take their loved ones there. I've also told so many people about A Place For Mom, it was such a blessing to find their site and get help from them.
