It was nice, though it's an older facility.
reviewed on: 05/06/2015 by AnonymousIt was nice, though it's an older facility. I didn't care for the roommate situation, they have a lot of shared rooms. Though it seemed okay overall. I was introduced to a couple of ladies who were eating lunch. They said they liked living there, that the food was good and they had quickly become friends once they moved there. The community told me they would give me lunch when I came out, but they didn't give me lunch.

reviewed on: 12/23/2012 by A Place For Mom CustomerThis is an older place located away from the hustle and bustle of 1960. The director was extremely helpful and gave me a full tour of the location. I spoke with and talked to a couple of the residents. The overall appearance is clean and well kept; however, each of the residents have the ability to decorate and organize their rooms themselves. The eating area seemed organized and clean. The residents were just returning from an excursion to Wal-mart and seemed quite excited. The Activities Director, was well-spoken and friendly. Overall, there wasn't any pungent odors, the staff was friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming and peaceful, and the residents seemed happy.
Overall a great place!
reviewed on: 08/31/2021 by LyndaI love the majority of the staff members, one in particular loves my mom and takes really good care of her. There are times I have been there and I've swept the room. I've had to have them spray for bugs as I do find bugs on occasion. I do try to be understanding as I know that it is hard to find good help to work in a facility such as this, but most of the staff members seem to enjoy their job and to take pride in it. My mom seems to like it there and has made friends and wants to introduce me to all of them but I am not allowed to roam the halls at this time because of the pandemic. I totally understand that and honestly I don't want to roam the halls. I think it is great all the activities that the Community Activities Director plans and does with the residents. I just wish my mom would participate more than she does.
Welcoming and Clean

Family-type care
reviewed on: 10/19/2018 by Patricia Ann BakerBrookdale Champion Oaks is like a family. The residents interact with each other and the staff like brothers and sisters. The aides and helpers are patient and try to meet the needs of each individual, which isn’t an easy job. While not as fancy as some facilities, the apartments are adequate , and they have a little library, meeting rooms, and a smoking area. As a caretaker for my brother, I have had great communication with staff and management regarding his unique care situation. My brother seems much happier and relaxed. The food is good, too.
