Great Staff
reviewed on: 02/06/2019 by maineygThe staff members are helpful and really attentive. Mom had difficulties adjusting to her new home and the staff recognized this quickly. They recommended and I agreed that extra assistance was needed for a few days to help with the transition. Mom is doing much better and has settled in. The community has many activities to choose from during the day and the facility is kept quite clean. The residents as well as staff are very friendly. Good value. Glad we found this.

Great Place for Dad
reviewed on: 08/30/2021 by JillThe only bad part is the food. I wish they would please do something about the kitchen. A lot of times the food is cold, and it just looks and tastes disgusting, to the point that I'm having to bring my dad a lot of his meals. The atmosphere in the dining room is mostly assisted living people who are in really bad shape, which can be depressing for him since he's in independent living. He can opt to have food delivered to his room, but then it' s always so cold. He's not really interested in most of the activities. It would be nice if they offered more for people who are in less cognitive decline. But they have a beer tasting coming up soon, and that's the first thing he's ever possibly thought about going to. I believe they have new activities director, and this is one of the first things she put on the schedule. In general, it would be nice if independent and assisted living were more separate. They share all of the common spaces, and while I'm sure that has benefits for those who are in assisted living, it's not ideal for independent living. But the staff is really nice. And his apartment is set up nicely to accommodate mobility issues . The bathroom has a walk in shower with rails. Yet it looks nice and doesn't look like it's for old people. The housekeeping staff are really sweet. My dad really enjoys the woman who comes in and cleans. The staff in general are all very sweet. It gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing that there's always somebody there that I can call to check on him if I'm ever worried or if he doesn't answer his phone, etc.
Love Greatwood!
reviewed on: 01/27/2017 by Rhonda HelmkeMy parents moved in two days before Christmas. Two days after Christmas, Daddy was hospitalized and never was able to come home. We lost him on January 15th. Greatwood was awesome with the moving in / settling in process. They, along with the residents, have been so welcoming and supportive of our situation. Mom invited me to join her for lunch yesterday and the food was delicious. I'm so happy that they / now she has found a special place to live.

reviewed on: 10/07/2013 by A Place For Mom CustomerMelanie was very professional and highly effective at communicating the offerings of the community. We appreciated her openness to the 'Day Stay' concept which could fulfill a more immediate need. The facility was very nice and we appreciated the options of the combination of independent living with added assisted living as an option especially in the care of a couple coming in with different needs. This probably is closest to meeting our immediate needs. The two bedroom apartment (royal oak) that she showed us was by far the most 'homey' of all of the rooms that we saw and would provide the best transition option if they moved today. I liked the indoor carpeted hallways. The facility was very clean and appealing in every way and the festive decorations were a fun touch we didn't see at other places. We didn't see many residents, again due to the time of the day of the tour. Of the residents we saw, Melanie greeted two by name and they responded positively to her as well. We would definitely keep this community on the list of options for the future care of our parents.
