Good place for many seniors
reviewed on: 06/26/2019 by DebbieI think Jamestown is a great place for many seniors. They have great activities and the staff does its best. Unfortunately, in our situation, my father had health problems beyond what they could take care of and he needed to be in a skilled nursing home. He went downhill quickly and only stayed at Jamestown for a few months. Davey, recommended some care that was very important to dad and his own primary care refused it. When we got him to the hospital we found out about chronic heart failure, blood clots in legs and lungs and several other undiagnosed conditions that should have been looked into but were not by his physician and we appreciate the help Jamestown gave us in getting these diagnosed. We now have the help he needs. Unfortunately he was on a do not move order for the last 5 days in the home and the decline in dad will probably not be reversible at this point.
Her Decision
reviewed on: 07/14/2017 by AnonymousMom and I have toured a couple of properties and she had chosen this one I had left the choice up to her since she was the one that was going to have to move somewhere. She had liked the food and the staff seems friendly, kind and very helpful. My only concern is that she is still recovering from a broken hip so she can't join any of the activities as of yet but the staff doesn't seem to encourage her to do any exercise to help her recovery along. One of the main requirements for my room is the temperature it can't be too cold or too hot and this place the temperature is just right so that is what sold her.
My tour review
reviewed on: 10/01/2021 by Stacy SI really liked this community, the rooms were just a little dated. They are currently In the process of remodeling. Also the place was not avail at the time and we needed something a little faster.
my experience
reviewed on: 03/24/2021 by anonymousThe director seems to tell you to want you want to hear vs reality. The communication is about average between the family and the staff. I would want people to research this community before making their decision
Our Tour Experience
reviewed on: 05/11/2021 by JenThis would have been our second choice. My loved one absolutely fell in love with this place. The amount and types of activities really appealed to her. She is LDS, and they had a whole center based around that. The food was excellent. The friendliness of the staff was really awesome. The part I didn’t care for was the sales process. At first we had a really great experience. I talked to the marketing director at least twice before we came on our tour, and she and I had very long conversations about my loved one's preferences and things for her to see and experience on the tour, as well as what some of her fears were around moving. In hind sight, I feel like the marketing director listened and then was like - this is how I can sell you on this. Then when we got there, the pricing and availability changed drastically from what she had told me on the phone. We had gotten my loved one so excited to live there, and then there was absolutely no way we could afford it. My loved one gave me the most crestfallen look. Clearly this woman didn’t listen during our conversation, which created an awkward situation. We still loved the environment. It didn’t feel like an old person’s home in the traditional sense. They really encouraged interactions between the residents. We actually saw residents out and about interacting, and my loved one was able to talk with them and get a feel for the community, which is what she was looking for. It was just a matter of pricing.
