Community Reviews

Great positive environment

reviewed on: 12/16/2016 by Anonymous

My mother moved into the Courtyard at Jamestown just before Thanksgiving 2016 and seems quite happy there. It is a beautiful facility. The staff is very friendly and helpful and there are so many activities offered covrering many interests. She doesn't need any extra care so I can't evaluate the medical staff. The atmosphere is very positive. Lunch meals are the nicest of the day. The others are acceptable but nothing special. Church meetings are held in the facility. It's very helpful to have so many activities on site so she doesn't have to go outside in the cold. So far this seems like a great choice.

Exceptional individualized care

We chose Courtyard at Jamestown initially because my mother had friends who had lived there and they all had good experiences. Then, when she toured she liked the feel and look of it and thought it would be a good fit for them. My dad is in their enhanced memory care unit and his room is not huge, but it is perfectly adequate for what he needs right now. We like the fact that they try as much as possible to keep the residents out of their rooms doing activities and interacting with others during the day. Their activities director and the staff members who help with activities are AMAZING. They have calendars that are filled with activities every single day and they have a great variety. The staff really interact and keep track of each individual and their needs and what they like and dislike. They really just go above and beyond for their residents. It is pretty expensive, but I believe it is worth it because of the amount of personalized care that they are receiving every single day. I would highly recommend this facility to others who are looking.

Too closed in for my taste

While looking for a place for my father, this location was recommended to me. They have nice people on their staff team. Their personnel overall is very good, fantastic even. The only thing that I didn’t like was their layout. It seemed too closed in. Their dining room is really dinky, very narrow hallways, and cramped setting. People who use walkers and wheelchairs need more space to move around so it would be more ideal to have larger hallways.

Good place for many seniors

reviewed on: 06/26/2019 by Debbie

I think Jamestown is a great place for many seniors. They have great activities and the staff does its best. Unfortunately, in our situation, my father had health problems beyond what they could take care of and he needed to be in a skilled nursing home. He went downhill quickly and only stayed at Jamestown for a few months. Davey, recommended some care that was very important to dad and his own primary care refused it. When we got him to the hospital we found out about chronic heart failure, blood clots in legs and lungs and several other undiagnosed conditions that should have been looked into but were not by his physician and we appreciate the help Jamestown gave us in getting these diagnosed. We now have the help he needs. Unfortunately he was on a do not move order for the last 5 days in the home and the decline in dad will probably not be reversible at this point.

The director seems to tell you to want you want to hear vs reality. The communication is about average between the family and the staff. I would want people to research this community before making their decision
