Community Reviews
Home in Winchester, VA
reviewed on: 04/13/2016 by SandyHaving visited several different communities in the area, I felt this was the best fit for my family member. It does not look like a facility. The staff do not wear uniforms. Instead, they wear regular business outfits with name tags. Everyone my family member and I have come in contact with has been extremely personable, professional and caring. The home is extremely clean with no "facility" odor. Pets are allowed and the food is quite good with a nicely varied menu. It's simply a wonderful place and I have piece of mind knowing my family member has assistance whenever needed.

Understaffed
reviewed on: 08/28/2015 by AnonymousI just think that they need more staffing. Pretty much they have two people looking over eighteen residents, and I think that is expecting too much of the staff. They just need to spend more time with the residents.
Both good and bad
reviewed on: 10/25/2018 by AnonymousMy late mother was a resident of the Willows at Meadow Branch (The Willows) from 1/15-12/17. Overall her care was adequate however "The Willows" has problems with retaining competent and experienced staff. They employ primarily young high school educated females and do not pay them well, as the STAFF IS CONSTANTLY changing. Also, several times during my mother's almost three year stay the facility THEY DID NOT HAVE AN R.N employed as is apparently required by State Law. The food served consisted of primarily reheated frozen prepared meals, not the best for the average senior citizen. The Willows spends quite a bit on advertising on local T.V. They have apparently made the decision to spend their money on extensive advertising to insure a constant supply of "residents" rather than on employee compensation sufficient to ensure staff retention. This management approach is results in a constant staff turnover....they have apparently decided to pursue this approach as there is a ready supply of young 18-24 year old high school educated females ready to fill these low skilled positions. On the positive side the facility was was always very clean and the grounds were kept well-maintained. My mother was generally very happy at the Willows during her final years.
Enjoying Herself
reviewed on: 08/02/2017 by AnonymousThis is the perfect place for my mother in law it fits her personality very well. She is very happy enjoying all the new people making friends. She is doing the activities they offer. Her unit is quite comfortable she has no complaints. The staff is friendly and helpful when needed. She loves the food it is the best part of her experience. I have not heard anything negative and I don't expect too.
