Review of Stafford Suites - Kent, WA
reviewed on: 10/18/2017 by AnonymousI live in this facility and they provide great help if you need it. The food is acceptable and the wait staff are fine. It is comfortable place to live.
Exceeds all of my expectations in a place where Mom can live with dignity
reviewed on: 02/27/2020 by Eva's kidsThere is so much to like. It is an intimately-sized community so the residents and the staff all know each other. The staff calls the residents by name and treats them as mature adults, not like half-witted children (I know that you know what I am talkin' about if you have ever been in a facility of older people!). The meals are not regimented by time or "meal of the day." Instead, the dining room is open all day, there are rotated specials for each meal but the residents can order off the menu or get substitutes. … and the food is GOOD! It is not the softened-down, flavorless "stuff" that is too typical of homes for mature people. The wait staff knows each resident's favorites and proactively brings those foods/drinks to their table.... and there is an ice cream social every Sunday that residents and visitors can enjoy together. Sittercize is every morning. Van rides to local places of interest are every Monday. Residents join for board games and other activities every evening. The beauty shop is open on Fridays and Saturdays. Various faith groups come in for religious services but no one is pushed to be part of something that is not in their comfort zone. The medical staff hands out medications so residents don't "forget" or "remember twice" to take their meds. The apartments are spacious and well-cared for. Most have nice views of the outside world. Free cable service. Locked individual mail boxes. Van transportation to doctors' appts one or two days a week. For active adults, the Kent Senior Center is just down the street and Kent Station is about 4 or 5 blocks away. Each resident has a "panic button" so help is just a few minutes away. The "panic button" isn't jus for emergencies; it can also be used to call someone to help the resident get to an activity on time or to adjust the thermostat or TV. .. The people who work there seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs and they are all good at what they do. They are also good at communicating with family members if they feel that something is right with a resident. This is DEFINITELY NOT the place that your folks feared they would end up in when they couldn't live alone anymore and it is not the kind of place that makes you feel guilty about your choice.
I think it's a wonderful place.
reviewed on: 04/27/2016 by AnonymousI think it's a wonderful place. 99% is a five, there is one area they are lacking, activities. There is a lack of activities after 6:30 p.m., it's a ghost town. They are very close to the Kent Senior Center, less than a football field away, and the only way to go is to arrange the bus to take her. It surprises me they don't have anyone that can take them next door, it seems that they could arrange a fifteen minute transport where they could gather a group and wheel them over. Other than the activities part, we really liked it. We thought it was the best for the dollar. I would encourage someone coming into this situation to look closely at what each charge is, and whether you need it, I think it's great they offer all of the options, but they do add up.
