Great facility, staff.

Wonderful, caring staff, inviting facility, it's a pleasure to go visit your relatives there.

My mom received excellent care.

reviewed on: 06/05/2015 by Norman Johnson

My mom was 94 when she had a fall at home after the flu left her weak and unable to get around on her own. At that point she required around the clock care which was more that we could provide in our own home. We were so thankful to find The Madrona House where trained staff is there around the clock 7 days a week. Their kind employees cared for her just like she was their own mom and were mindful of her special food needs. They helped her with all the things that she was no longer able to do for herself. Mom enjoyed getting to know all of the nurses, CNAs, and housekeeping staff who came to her room to check on her, took her for walks in her wheel chair, and brought her to the dining room for meals. The amazing staff made my mom feel special and treated as a person. We couldn't be more satisfied with the excellent care she received at The Madrona House.

We love Madrona House

Our father has been living at Madrona House for over a year and it's been a great place for him physically, mentally, and emotionally. The well-trained, warm, and helpful staff at Madrona House gets to know your elder and makes them a part of the friendly community there. Numerous beautiful and cozy spaces for family and friends are available for the frequent musical performances, art classes, and exercise groups at Madrona. The weekly menus are amazing, thanks to Chef Tamas and his skilled kitchen staff. Most importantly, our father really likes living at Madrona House!

Madrona House--My Mom is thriving in this caring community!

reviewed on: 04/18/2019 by Danna Brumley

My Mother has been a resident at Madrona House on Bainbridge Island for nearly a year. As she is suffering from Alzheimer's disease, she is in need of 24 hr care. My father had done all he could for 6 years, but it was too much for his 80+ years! Though these transitions are always very difficult, the staff at Madrona was incredibly kind and did all they could to help us through it. Their sincere sympathy and caring attitudes went such a long way in assuaging the inevitable guilt and self-doubt that accompanies making the decision to move your loved one into a care facility. The best part is that my Mom is thriving! She is eating better and healthier and the staff were thoughtful (and experienced) enough to suggest she be served finger foods or have her food cut up so she could feed herself (as she is no longer able to hold utensils). She gets exercise, she has friends and she adores the daily music and many other options provided by the wonderful Activities Directors. Finally, I must commend the Madrona Staff for their deep commitment to constantly improve their quality of care and also for helping the residents' families adjust to this huge change by holding monthly social gatherings, meetings with helpful speakers and topics and providing much needed resources for this new phase of life. I feel exceedingly grateful to have Madrona House in our community. If you can no longer care for your loved one at home, there's another kind of family that can provide the care in a professional way, but just as important; in a compassionate way.

A local doctor's perspective

reviewed on: 08/10/2019 by Gregory E Keyes, M.D.

As a physician on Bainbridge Island I have worked closely with the staff at Madrona House since it's opening. The staff is caring and attentive. The facility is clean and attractive with attention to making the experience for loved ones inviting and attractive. The dementia floors are the nicest I have seen in the area of my practice. Dementia care has special challenges that require adjustment in care that are difficult. I have had confidence that the nursing and administrational staff have always approached those challenges in a kind and intelligent manner with the resident's best interest as their prime directive. I would not hesitate to have a family member reside there if the situation were to arise.
