Community Reviews
Good people trying to keep people like my parents comfortable & safe, which is very challenging right now.
reviewed on: 10/07/2021 by Brian MWe moved both my parents into Azpira. With their health declining, I needed to get them in quickly, so I didn't have the time to look around as much as I wanted to. But I took a chance with Azpira. I liked the feel when I walked in. It was clean and bright. But their number one challenge, and I'm sure it's a national challenge, is understaffing. The first night my parents were there, my father had a medical emergency in the middle of the night, and my mother went to look for staff and couldn't find anybody. So I had to go over there in the middle of the night and found the two staff members asleep. My mother was traumatized by that circumstance, and I was very unhappy as well. But, after that terrible first night, the people who run the place went out of their way to take care of my parents for the remainder of their stay there. The director was really honest and fair with me about the realities of trying to keep this place open with the staffing limitations she's been dealing with. And I appreciated the honesty. One of the things I think people want from assisted living is just an honest assessment of competence of staff, number of people on staff, things like that, despite what the shiny brochures say. And a lot of these facilities are just chronically understaffed, which is a shame for the families. After that night, which was about as bad as things can get, I don't think they tried to treat my mother any differently than anyone else in their care, but they were really aware that that's not how you want things like this to start, and that's not what they want for their residents or families. I was very pleased with the level of honesty I got from the director and the people who had to make the decisions for my parents. Another challenge with understaffing was keeping the dining room open. They were doing delivery to the residents individually, which affects the quality of the food. And nobody can fix that. My mother would complain it was bland and cold, but that's because it's being served in a big facility on trays and crates with a limited number of staff. They finally were able to open up the dining hall, which they had been trying to do for a while. Another challenge was with the night nursing staff. They just can't find people to work overnight who are qualified nurses at competitive wages.
This was a nice facility. I did wonde...
reviewed on: 12/27/2012 by A Place For Mom CustomerThis was a nice facility. I did wonder however if the busy wallpaper would be too much for Mom. The gal they thought she would share a room with was a sweetheart and I think they would get along just fine. Just not sure how she would be in that situation. My concern here was she would have to be in the "secured" area as they do not have "secured" doors and if no one was at the desk the client could walk right out of the building. I did like the activity director. He seemed to have alot for them to do.
Very nice place!

A Positive Experience
reviewed on: 03/30/2017 by AnonymousWhen my friend had an accident and needed help to recover, she went into Elmcroft until she was able to go back home. For the most part, she was very satisfied with everything here. The community was clean all the time. The only complaint was about the food, it was not very good.
